What is Rough Cut Media?

We are devoted to supporting, creating, and advocating for production-based media education programs in schools. Our mission is to help you and your school create and sustain comprehensive and cross-curricular media education. From  analyzing the constant flow of media messages to creating professional quality recordings, videos, and websites, we want to support you as you support your students growing up in our constantly connected, multimodal, multimedia society.

We are happy to work with you as consultants in helping to determine the best curricular model for media education in your school, or to offer advice on equipment, best practices, fundraising, or professional development. While every school has different needs, we are also seeking high schools with a desire to create pre-professional contractable production houses operating within their school producing publishable work for clients within and outside the school itself. These are our “Rough Cut Partner Schools,” and we work closely with them on a continuing basis to help keep these programs sustainable and vibrant. We are also working on a series of publications for those who would like to learn a little more about doing media education “The Rough Cut Way.”
